Ear Microsuction in Leicester
Improving hearing across the East Midlands
This will protect you from hearing loss and leave you hearing more clearly than ever before. In the days leading up to a treatment, we ask that patients use olive oil drops or spray such as ‘Earol' in the ears for approximately 4-5 days, as this helps to soften and loosen any wax from the ear canal or even the tympanic membrane (ear drum).
Then, just before the treatment begins, we will complete a case history, covering your general health and the health of your ears. We also complete a full external examination of the ears, as well as an internal (Otoscopy) inspection.
This helps to determine not only the condition of the ear wax but also to identify any possible infections or visible issues within the ear canal or the ear drum. Once the ear wax has been successfully removed, we can offer, as part of the treatment, a hearing screening to determine basic hearing levels.
Before any treatment for ear microsuction in Leicester goes ahead, we'll complete a full case history, in which we'll ask questions about your medical history, ear health and general health. We'll discover what medication you're on and discuss your family history, from a medical perspective.
We will then complete a series of examinations, including a full external examination of your ears, followed by an internal examination (otoscopy), as far as the ear drum itself. If any infections or visible issues are identified that would render ear microsuction unsafe, we will then refer you to your GP.
Once all necessary examinations and consultations are competed, we'll then carry out our service for ear microsuction in Leicester, or wherever in the surrounding areas you find yourself. The treatment can take anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the condition of your ears and wax levels.
With the treatment complete, your practitioner will offer advice on how to maintain your ear health and, if the problem persists, recommend a check-up every 3-4 months. They will also complete a hearing screening, to discover if you are at risk of hearing loss in the future, and make recommendations accordingly.
Ear wax is a naturally-occurring byproduct of the ear's cleaning process. The ear's skin grows outwards and, as it does so, the wax attached carries excess debris and unwanted particles that have made their way into the ear canal to the surface. This normally falls out of its own accord.
As we get older, ear wax can harden. Many people sustain injuries or illnesses that can overstimulate ear wax production. Some people naturally have narrower ear canals, which can cause wax blockages. Whatever reason you have for needing ear microsuction in Leicester, Clear to Hear! make the process simple and comfortable.
